📣So, well... I have a bit of an announcement to make....
I've been included on the New Year's Honours List and I'm being honoured with an MBE.🎖️
As I opened the letter and saw ‘Cabinet Office’ at the top, my hands started to shake as I read that I would be receiving an MBE for:
‘Services to Addiction Recovery, to Ex-offenders and Tackling Homelessness'
It was, and still is an incredibly surreal moment in a very strange life that I’m experiencing. My life seems to have gone from one extreme to another and I’m so very grateful for the few people who never gave up on me when I was a homeless addict, they saved my life and helped to get me into recovery. Since then, I owe a debt of gratitude to many many more people who have supported me, and now Eternal to create something very beautiful, wholesome and extremely powerful that supports people out of extreme adversity, gives families their loved ones back, creates positive ripple effects throughout our communities and on a global scale.
We don’t all make it into recovery, in fact those of us that do are very much in the minority. Most of us relapse, cross-addict and/or die. We set up Eternal Media because when I got clean in 2014, there was nothing for people in recovery. There were projects that I could’ve got involved with, but I would’ve had to mix with people in addiction, and after 25 years in Heroin and Crack addiction, I just wasn’t strong enough to do that. There was no provision for people just in recovery, there still isn’t very much at all in North Wales 🏴. (💜 NWRC💜🏴)
I see the MBE as very much a shared honour for all of us whom managed to find our return ticket from hell and made it into recovery… All of us that by some miracle didn’t die and now help others out of addiction, just as we were once helped.
My story has a cast of hundreds that have helped me, especially my family and the most profoundly talented and incredible team at Eternal… and I can never thank everybody enough.
My hope is that the honour helps to create new opportunities for people to find sustainable long-term recovery with us, new partnerships, for us to roll out more Eternal projects across the UK and to help stop the utterly avoidable daily tragedies of our most vulnerable dying on our streets and behind closed doors to addiction.
Addiction is a life and death condition. Recovery is at the heart of everything we do, Eternal is the 'Life After Addiction', we strive to make recovery accessible, fun and an attractive option for people trapped in the horrific and distilled misery cycle of addiction.
I’m so incredibly proud that they gave Recovery an MBE!
Marcus Fair… MBE🎖️
'(That’ll take a bit of getting used to!🙈)'

Update
I'm completely overwhelmed by everybody's comments 😭
Thank you all so much for your kind words and continued encouragement.
Hope to catch up with everyone soon!
Wishing everyone the most fantastic 2026! 🎉
Love

Huge thanks to Storiel for their continued support of this project, a massive acknowledgement of the value of Recovery in Focus and of these photographers.
Recovery in Focus is a unique therapeutic project that uses photography to explore individual stories of recovery from addiction. On this ten week project, participants learn photography skills alongside building a strong recovery toolkit.
Recovery in Focus is funded by the National Lottery.

Thanks for coming to see us Lesley Griffiths and for taking the time to support us! 💜💜💜It was great to catch up with Marcus Fair, MD and founder of Eternal Media, at their HQ on Borras Road and to congratulate him on receiving a prestigious award.
As part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, The National Lottery awarded 30 ‘Game Changers’ from nominations across the UK. The title recognises the trailblazers, celebrating the outstanding contributions made in their field, and Marcus was awarded a Game Changer award for his work in the community.
Marcus survived a 25 year heroin and crack cocaine addiction, vast swathes of homelessness and multiple prison sentences before turning his life around and founding Eternal Media. The not-for-profit enterprise is an award-winning provider of training in media and filmmaking for individuals who have overcome addiction.
As part of the National Celebration, seven of the chosen Game Changers were invited to sit for portraits painted by the artist Luis Gomez De Teran.
The portraits were exhibited at the Blue Bridge in St James’ Park in London and Marcus’ now sits proudly at Eternal Media’s base in Borras.
